2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed

½ teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 egg

1 12 oz can Coors beer

2 pounds fresh shrimp, shelled and deveined

Cooking oil for deep-fat frying


In mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, basil, salt and pepper. In mixer bowl beat egg; blend in Coors. Sprinkle flour mixture over liquid; beat just till flour is moistened and large lumps disappear. Do not stir batter after it is mixed! Wash shrimp; pat dry. Dip into batter. Fry (a few at a time) in deep hot oil (375°) 3 to 4 minutes. Drain. Serving size: 6
